About Fort Young

There are 73 air-conditioned rooms and suites which blend old world charm with contemporary style. All rooms include a ceiling fan, a flat screen TV, complimentary WiFi and a private balcony or terrace. Rich in heritage, the intimate Fort Rooms are housed in part of the original fort buildings, set back from the water with views over the resort towards the ocean. Oceanfront Rooms are in the newer wing, at the base of the cliff, with spectacular ocean views. The highly recommended Deluxe Oceanfront Rooms offer more space and are ideal for families, whilst the Oceanfront Suites are larger still and feature a bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and a separate living/dining room.

At the edge of a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Fort Young sits on the original site of a wooden fort built by the French in 1720. You’ll be warmly welcomed at this unpretentious hotel where the emphasis is on good food, comfortable accommodation and providing an ideal location for seeing and experiencing the best of Dominica. Although there’s no beach here, many of the rooms are right on the water and the oceanfront pool has a lovely sundeck where you can relax and soak up the sun.

The new kid on the block, Joali has exploded on the Maldivian hotel scene by doing things quietly, simply and well. Immerse yourself in this island paradise and rediscover your Joi de Vivre.

Dominica, the Nature Island of the Caribbean, offers travelers a year-round escape to lush rainforests, pristine rivers, and vibrant marine life.

**Dry Season (December to May):** Dominica's dry season, from December to May, is the most popular time to visit. The weather is generally sunny and dry, making it ideal for exploring the island's natural beauty. Discover the unique Boiling Lake, hike through the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, or go snorkeling and diving in the crystal-clear waters.

**Rainy Season (June to November):** The rainy season in Dominica brings occasional rain showers and is characterized by lush greenery. While there may be short bursts of rain, it's an excellent time for experiencing the island's rivers and waterfalls, including Trafalgar Falls and Emerald Pool. This season is also when sea turtles nest on the beaches.

Dominica's allure lies in its commitment to eco-tourism and its stunning natural landscapes. Whether you're exploring the Waitukubuli National Trail, immersing yourself in the culture of Roseau, or enjoying a relaxing soak in natural hot springs, Dominica promises a deep connection with nature and unforgettable experiences in the heart of the Caribbean year-round.
